Flying High
Well this past weekend Brooke went on her first airplane ride. We flew Southwest Airlines and they gave her a cute little certificate for me to put in her baby book and some wings.
I was very nervous about flying with her, but she did great! She slept the entire way on both flights going to NC and coming home she slept for most of the first flight and all of the second. She got lots of comments on how cute she was at the airport and on the plane. Since it was a Holiday there were lots of kids flying. But it was very cool to get to board early since we had an infant!
We had a good Thanksgiving Day here in Birmingham. We went to my Mom's for lunch. The guys did a good job frying both turkeys. And all the sides were yummy! Brooke even did a little Thanksgiving day shopping with the girls while the men went to fish. Her Daddy caught the only fish but then broke his rod and could not fish anymore for the day.
We got to have a second Thanksgiving in North Carolina with Robert's family. And of course it was all yummy there too! I think we had our fair share of Turkey and dressing.
Brooke got to meet a lot of new people on her trip. She had already met her Great Grandmother (Mema) and her Great Aunt Donna but had never met her other Great Aunts and Uncles that include Abby, Gretchen, Ken and Mitch. She even got to meet two of her cousins, Taylor and Emelyn. She had really wanted to meet her other Great Grandmother, but sadly she was in the hospital and the nurses didn't think it was a good idea to expose Brooke to the bacterial infection that she had. But we hope to get back to NC soon and let them meet.
I hope I can get some pictures from our trip on the blog soon. So far the holidays have been fun and Robert and I are thankful for so much this year. We can't wait for Christmas. We are planning on getting an Advent wreath up in our house and starting other traditions this year that we can continue in the upcoming years. We want Brooke to know that Thanksgiving is for celebrating how thankful we are for our many blessings. And Christmas is really about the birth of Christ.
